Air India SATS plans to build a multi-modal freight centre at Noida International Airport Creating a cargo gateway for North India

Noida: According to an official statement issued on Friday, the Noida International Airport (NIA) has chosen Air India SATS (AISATS), a renowned organisation in the cargo and logistics industry, to establish a multi-modal cargo hub (MMCH) at the forthcoming airport.The future cargo centre, which will span 80 acres of land, will enable rapid, easy, and multimodal connection to and from the country’s manufacturing centres, according to the company.According to the statement, the cargo and logistics infrastructure and ecosystem would serve to a diverse catchment and numerous future industrial clusters in NCR and Uttar Pradesh, providing a cargo gateway for Northern India.”We are certain that our new strategy to build and create a multi-modal cargo hub with integrated facilities and smooth operations would benefit cargo and logistics business in North India. The cargo centre at Noida International Airport will assist Western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region fully realise their cargo and logistics capabilities,” stated Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann.

“The multi-modal cargo hub will enhance predictability in operations and eliminate existing logistical bottlenecks through digitalisation and allow smooth and rapid procedures. Because of its worldwide reach and long-standing experience, we are certain that Air India SATS (AISATS) is the ideal partner to bring this vision to reality. We are looking forward to working with AISATS to make NIA a preferred freight hub in Northern India,” Schnellmann added.AISATS specialises in ground and freight handling and operates at five airports in India.

It handles 1,30,000 freight and ground-handling flights every year.”We are pleased to work with Noida International Airport to construct state-of-the-art, contemporary, and efficient cargo infrastructure by making optimal use of technology,” stated Air India SATS CEO Sanjay Gupta. “India is envisioned as the world’s next logistics centre, and the government is taking the necessary steps to improve logistics efficiency and global competitiveness.

We are certain that this multi-modal freight hub will genuinely become the gateway to North India, serving a broad catchment area with a great development potential due to multi-modal connectivity,” Gupta added.AISATS specialises in ground and freight handling and operates at five airports in India. The MMCH will have an integrated freight terminal as well as an integrated warehousing and logistics zone, according to the announcement.”This one-of-a-kind logistics zone will include a transhipment centre as well as a warehousing zone for freight forwarders and integrators. The MMCH will also provide transportation infrastructure to facilitate road-to-road, road-to-air, and air-to-road movements,” according to the statement.

“Overall, the infrastructure at Noida International Airport’s MMCH is focused on efficiency, scalability, fluid process flows, and shared digital infrastructure and systems,” the statement continued.The first phase of the Noida International Airport is now under construction at Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar, about 75 kilometres from Delhi, and is expected to be finished in 2024.
