Arrest Warrant against former President Jacob Zuma

Johannesburg, Feb 05(HS): A South African court issued an Arrest Warrant against former President Jacob Zuma.Government broadcaster South Africa Broadcasting Corporation reported that the court issued the warrant at the behest of the National Prosecuting Authority and now Zuma will have to appear before the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

It is reported that Zuma is ill and is currently undergoing treatment in Cuba. However, no information has been given about his health. The National Prosecution Authority requested the court to also cite Zuma’s medical report as he has cited health to avoid production. Government lawyer Billy Downer quoted Zuma’s lawyers as saying that he would be out of the country until mid-March.
