Bengal Governor and Mamata condole the death of Krishna Bose

Kolkata, 22 February (HS) : West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and Chief minister Mamata Banerjee joined thousands of mourners in expressing her deep grief and shock at the passing away of Krishna Bose, the renowned educationist , former Parliamentarian and a distinguished member of the family of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, in a private hospital here this morning. Paying his floral tributes and homage to Dr Bose, the Governor said later in his residence that her ‘void would be very difficult to fulfill’. Describing her as a ‘mother figure of the whole Trinamool Congress family’, the Chiefd minister in a condolence message posted through her twitter handle said this afternoon that ‘I lost someone respected, loved and admired by me. Saddened and shocked to hear about the demise of Krishna Bose, ex-TMC MP and wife of freedom fighter Dr. Sisir Bose.Being a part of Netaji’s family, she was a revered social reformer, renowned poet and a courageous educationist.In another message she said ‘Krishna di was a mother to her son’s Sumantra and Sugata, daughter Sarmila as well as the whole Trinamool family.Her immense contribution to Indian society and Bengali culture will be revered for times to come.’ Expressing similar grief several members of the state cabinet including senior ministers like Panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee, Education minister Partha Chatterjee, City Mayor Frihad Hakim and Youth Affairs minister Arup Biswas also deeply condoled the passing away of Krishna Bose. State BJP President and MP Dilip Ghosh also condoled the demise of Dr Bose and said she was also known as a great educationist and done a thorough research about the rich contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.A three time member of Parliament between 1996 and 2004,first as a member of Congress then of the Trinamool Congress, Dr Bose was also the Chief of ‘Netaji Research Bureau’ for over four decades.Dr Bose(89) was admitted to hospital last week after suffering cerebral infarct (stroke) in her South Kolkata residence. She remained  in a critical condition since then and breathed her last at around 10- 30 a.m. this morning. After enabling the common people to pay their last respect to her body at her South Kolkata residence, the body of Krishna Bose would be cremated at Keoratala Cremetorium tonight, family sources informed Hindusthan Samachar.
