305 Farm Machinery Bank to be set up

February 18, Lucknow The government has set a target of doubling farmers’ income by 2022. This is possible only by increasing yields and decreasing costs. In agriculture, the highest cost is of labour and thus, maximum mechanization is the only option. In order to promote mechanization, the government has announced to establish 1964 Custom Hiring Centers and 305 Farm Machinery Banks in the budget. Through this medium, 40,606 agricultural equipment will be made available on subsidy.

In the budget, it was also announced to open 20 new Krishi Vigyan Kendras in order to provide maximum benefits of various researches in agriculture.

Keeping in view the number of sugarcane farmers in the state, the government has increased the minimum support price of sugarcane to Rs 325 per quintal. The state government has made sugarcane payment of Rs 86 thousand 700 crore to 46 lakh 20 thousand sugarcane farmers. In the last two years, 2 thousand 143 lakh tonnes of sugarcane has been crushed by the sugar mills of the state.
