DTO Kupwara placed under suspension for Alleged Corruption Charges
Srinagar, Feb 22 (HS) : The District Treasury Officer (DTO) Kupwara, Mohammad Ashraf Ahanger, has been placed under suspension for corruption charges against him.”The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Basheer Ahmad Khan has taken this action against the officer on the recommendations of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg,” reads an order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir. “The complaint was filed by Sajad Hussain Shah before Deputy Commissioner against the alleged officer, the order. Taking the cognizance of the compliant, the Deputy Commissioner immediately initiated a preliminary investigation regarding prevalence of corruption in the office of the District Treasury Officer Kupwara, which raises serious questions on the integrity of the incumbent. The DC has also indicated in his report submitted to Divisional Commissioner’s Office, that there are a series of verbal as well as anonymous complaints of corruption pouring against the incumbent officer, the order reads further. Offical sources aid DC has also convened a video clipping which raise questions over the integrity of the District Treasury officer for whom he has recommended immediate suspension of the officer. The incumbent has been attached with the office of Director Accounts and Treasures, Kashmir, Srinagar. “Meanwhile, Iqbal Ahmad Pandit, Accounts Officer in the office of Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara shall look after the work of District Treasury Officer, Kupwara till a suitable substitute is provided. The Iqbal Ahmad Pandit has assumed the charge today on 22.02.2020” a Officer in the administration prefferying annoymity said
