Agra: Smriti Irani, a Union minister, stated on Saturday that women must be at the centre of any dialogue and decision for a future-ready society.
The women and child development minister stated at the G-20 Empower Inception conference that India is eager to play a significant role in developing realistic global solutions for the well-being of everyone and, in doing so, express the genuine spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family).

Irani emphasised the magnitude of India’s self-help group (SHG) narrative, as well as the importance of grassroots women’s leadership and efforts to ensure that banking and financial services are available to every woman.”If you want to get your future right, if you want to be future-ready, make women the centre of the dialogue and the centre of your decisions,” the minister stated on the opening day of the two-day meeting.
She also mentioned India’s fight for gender equity, including the inclusion of a gender inclusion fund in the National Education Policy, the construction of bathrooms for every family, and the implementation of a menstrual hygiene protocol.
The summit intends to give a chance to define a plan, frame policies, and mobilise shared resources in the pursuit of equality and women-led development.
Irani also underlined that the three focus areas under India’s G20 presidency are — “Women’s Entrepreneurship: A win-win for Equity and Economy”, “Partnership for promoting women’s leadership at all levels including at grassroots” and “Education, the key to women’s empowerment and equal workforce participation”.

G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant centred his special talk on how India is holding the G20 presidency at a time when the world is experiencing several difficulties such as recession, climate change, the need for climate financing, and more. Kant stated that India’s G20 presidency would be inclusive, decisive, outcome-oriented, and action-oriented, and that no one can achieve this more than the world’s women. He stated that raising women’s per capita income and putting them in positions of leadership will be critical to increasing India’s pace of growth. Kant discussed several steps done by India to promote women’s empowerment, such as the Jan Dhan Yojana, the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, and new budgetary provisions aimed at scaling up SHGs. He stated that the G20 Empower initiative’s proposals may be included in the Leaders’ Communique and will connect with India’s aspirational results.Women and Child Development Secretary Indevar Pandey stated that in the twenty-first century, global growth will come from the South, and India has the potential to demonstrate the Global South’s leadership by showcasing women’s leadership and innovation, as well as highlighting their concerns and potential.
