India leads the world in corona crisis
Manish K Singhal
The corona has spread its wings more or less in every part of the globe. However, if we look at the statistics of the whole world, we find that India is the least affected as of now, both in respect of number of cases reported and the number of deaths occurred due to this and despite that truth it enjoys the credit of being at the forefront of fighting out this monster. This is true even in wake of the situation when Tablighi Jammat members left no stone unturned in spreading this nuisance pandemic among the masses to the maximum.
This all was due to the foresightedness of our government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who anticipated the destruction resulting out of it and took timely action considering the fragility of the situation. The patience and restraint that has been exhibited by crores of people of India, in response to PM’s call, is unique. One interesting aspect of this can be seen when millions of migrant laborers got stuck on their way back to their villages. They did not give up courage, acted on Prime Minister Modi’s appeal and still staying in tents and camps managed by the local administration until favourable time comes. Of course, government and voluntary organizations were by their side, day and night, to help.
Wherever curfew is imposed in the country, the government employees and the volunteers from social organizations visit homes of the needy distributing free goods. Lakhs of people are getting LPG cylinders and food items while sitting at home. To provide isolation treatment to the Corona patients, adequate spaces have been created in dozens of cities and even in empty train coaches, an exceptional step taken by Indian Railways. Cheaper corona checking instruments, breathers, masks, home remedies and medicines are being made available to the people. The notable point is that many countries of the world are now seeking medicines from India which has become a bulwark of all these corona affected countries.
It will not be out of place to mention that the other countries of the world will take inspiration from the relaxation and strictness measures that India will be taking during the second lockdown. As for the opposition leaders, at this time of crisis, they should desist from doing cheap politics, although it is no less important that almost all non-BJP Chief Ministers came forward with the proposal to extend the lockdown period beyond 14 April. “This corona-crisis has descended on Earth like the ‘Third World War’. It has suffocated the superpowers of the world. Countries like America, Britain, France, Germany and Russia are wailing in distress.
After Narendra Modi’s initiatives to combat COVID-19, the SAARC nations welcomed the move saying that they want to work closely with India to chalk out a strategy to fight the deadly coronavirus. The leaders from other parts of the world also reached out to Modi praising his effort to combat the deadly virus, COVID-19. Among the firsts was British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who discussed coordination and sincere efforts made by the Indian Prime Minister to tackle the outbreak. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison also appreciated Modi’s efforts to organise a G20 link up. In such a difficult time, India is emerging as the only hope for the world.” In this weary situation, the whole world would like to follow the cultural traditions of India, (Namaste and distancing), as also the fresh and vegetarian food trend of India and its home remedies.
