Ghaziabad: During a crackdown against juveniles riding two-wheelers in the city, Ghaziabad traffic police lodged FIRs against their parents and vehicle owners at several police stations. In the previous week, the police have also confiscated 91 similar vehicles. Twelve FIRs have been filed at Kavinagar police station, eight in Nandgram, ten in Kotwali, four in Vijay Nagar, and thirteen in Sahibabad, among others. Before beginning the checking drive, Additional DCP Traffic Ramanand Kushwaha met with the team.According to Kushwaha, anyone under the age of 18 is not permitted to operate a vehicle. In such cases, the registered owner of the vehicle may face a Rs 25,000 fine, three years in prison, and the cancellation of the vehicle registration for one year under Section 199 (A) of the Motor Vehicle Act. He also mentioned that there is a provision for not providing a licence to a youngster riding a vehicle until the age of 25.Aside from that, the traffic police are taking action against people who drive without a licence while being over the age of 18. Challans have been issued to 149 vehicles in similar circumstances.

The traffic police are visiting schools and universities to educate kids on traffic regulations. According to Kushwaha, a research on traffic accidents found that a substantial number of kids ride vehicles, which is cause for worry.
