LARGE NUMBERS OF APPREHENSIONS AND SEIZURES MADE BY BSF NORTH BENGAL FRONTIER DURING THE YEAR 2022

New Delhi. BSF North Bengal Frontier guarding 936.415 kms of Indo-Bangladesh Border in 05 districts of West Bengal i.e. Dakshin Dinajpur, Uttar Dinajpur, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar with land (including fence & unfence) and riverine border. The area of responsibility of North Bengal Frontier starts from BOP L N Pur in Dakshin Dinajpur to BOP Mahanadi in Coochbehar district of West Bengal. Troops of under command BSF North Bengal Frontier deployed Indo-Bangladesh border are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of antinational elements to execute their nefarious design of smuggling, infiltrations & exfiltration and made remarkable achievements by large numbers of apprehension & seizures during the year 2022.

During the period from 01 Jan to 31 Dec 2022, acting on tip off as well as joints operation with police, troops of North Bengal Frontier made effective seizure and seized a large of Cattle i.e. 3430 Nos of Cattle, 01 Jar of Sanke Venom and more than 07 Crore of contraband items from the entire border area of North Bengal Frontier while smugglers were trying to smuggle from India to Bangladesh.

In the context of narcotics items, 77454 bottles of Phensedyl, 1126.76 Kg of Ganja, 24223 Nos of Yaba Tablets, 0.158 Gms of Heroin, 300.25 Kg of Brown Sugar were seized by the troops under command of North Bengal Frontier. Meanwhile, in the context of precious metal, 5640.23 Gms of Gold and 10.371 Kg of Silver were seized by the troops of North Bengal Frontier during the year 2022.

Besides above, alert troops of North Bengal Frontier recovered 07 Nos of country made weapon, 02 Nos of Magazine, 03 Nos of Battery operated IED and 200 Gms of Sulphur during the year 2022.

Total 207 Indian Nationals (Male-175, Female-32 including 04 Indian Tout and 01 Constable of Bihar Military Police with huge Dummy fake Indian Currency) and 237 Bangladesh Nationals (Male-186, Female-51 including 12 Bangladeshi Tout) were apprehended by the troops of North Bengal Frontier in 2022.

BSF North Bengal Frontier successfully conducted various programs as Band Display, Motor Cycle Rally, Cycle Rally, Photo Exhibitions, Weapon Display, Cultural programme, Run up to Teacher’s Day and Har Ghar Tiranga etc to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence and celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to inculcate fervor of National Integration & Patriotism during the year 2022.

As a means of public interface, BSF North Bengal Frontier organised various Civic Action Programme nearing Border areas to provide essential items, stores, conducted free medical camps, awareness programs of Govt. Schemes for benefit of border population. North Bengal Frontier organised various skill development programs also to train border youths for nurturing their skills and motivating them for recruitment in CAPFs and other Forces during the year 2022.

BSF North Bengal was awarded prestigious General Raina Trophy after securing first position in Shooting Competition of Platoon level weapon and also secured first position in Athletic Competition among 11 Frontiers of BSF during the 2022.

A total 874 BSF Mahila Praharies deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border of North Bengal Frontier are effectively safeguarding our countries border despite vagaries of nature.
