Man detained for raping minor girl in UP

Muzaffarnagar: According to authorities, police apprehended a man on Thursday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in a village near here. The event happened on Wednesday night, when the underage girl went outside to answer nature’s call, according to authorities. Rakesh Sharma, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chartwal police station, informed reporters that a complaint had been lodged against Gaurav Kumar under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim’s mother filed a report about the event, accusing Kumar of raping her daughter. According to police, both the victim and the accused are from the same village.
