Mime Presentation by University Theatre at Swaraj Vidyapeeth, Prayagraj

Prayag Raj, 17 November 2024: The 20-day production based workshop organised by University Theatre at Swaraj Vidyapeeth, Prayagraj, concluded with a grand mime performance. The presentation was a unique experience for the art lovers of the city, in which the artists presented their story only through gestures, body language and emotions without words.

The workshop was directed by renowned theatre artist and trainer Pratyush Varsne (Rishu). Pratyush Varsne made the participants aware of the nuances of mime. He provided the artists an opportunity to hone their performance skills by teaching the technical and creative aspects of this art.
The mime presentation presented on the last day of the workshop beautifully presented social and personal topics. The expressions of every character and the spontaneity of every scene in the presentation mesmerized the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, the director of the University Theatre said, “Mime is a form of theatre art that can create a deep impact without any words. An experienced and talented instructor like Pratyush Varsane has made this workshop unique. Under his guidance, the participants have added a new dimension to their art.”
Pratyush Varsane (Rishu) said, “Mime is an art that provides us with the most powerful medium to express our inner emotions. I am extremely impressed to see the enthusiasm and dedication of the participants in this workshop. This experience was memorable not only for them but also for me.”

Young artists and theatre lovers of the city participated in the workshop and presentation. This initiative played an important role in enriching the cultural landscape of Prayagraj and spreading new awareness towards mime acting.
