Nazareth organizes a “Blind Walk”

Nazareth Hospital, Prayagraj, organized a “Blind Walk” on October 10, 2024, to mark World Sight Day, raising awareness about the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals and promoting eye donation. The event featured a unique activity called “Walk Blindfolded: Experience Something Unique,” where participants walked in a line blindfolded, experiencing the difficulties of blindness.

Students from Divya Jyoti Niketan, Ranjana and Muskan, led the walk alongside local participants, starting at Hotstuff Chauraha and ending at Subhash Chauraha in Civil Lines, Prayagraj. The event included hospital staff, doctors, local residents and volunteers, who gained a deeper understanding of the hardships of blind individuals.

Fr. Vipin D’Souza, Director of Nazareth Hospital, emphasized the importance of eye donation, calling it a noble act. The initiative was organized with the support of Divya Jyoti Niketan, Prayagraj, and left a strong impact on the local community. Father Isidore D’Souza, Administrator of Nazareth Hospital, expressed gratitude to the participants and administration after they pledged to donate their eyes.

The event saw significant participation, including Father Vipin D’Souza, Mr. Akhil Pattnaik, Matron Sister Moncy, Sister Sheeba, Sister Maxie, Sr. Meena and around 200 local residents, raising awareness about blindness and encouraging eye donation.
