Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease is increasing rapidly in Indian women
A developing country like India has progressed a lot in terms of health services but these days a disease is spreading very fast in Indian women and that is Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease which is known as PCOD. PCOD is now taking a very dangerous form in Indian women due to which many diseases including menstrual related diseases surround them due to hormonal imbalance and it becomes very difficult for them to become a mother in future. This is a serious problem which becomes a big obstacle in conceiving and has also emerged as a major cause of infertility in women. Due to this, while women not only face the problems related to it, they also fall prey to being called infertile socially and go into depression. PCOD and PCOS have become a common problem in women which is gradually becoming more severe. In this disease, due to hormonal imbalance, small cysts are formed in the ovaries. Due to these small lumps formed in the ovaries, women start having major health changes and it disturbs both menstruation and pregnancy to a great extent. Along with this, many health related problems like hair or hair growth on the face and other parts of the body and weight loss or gain arise. But the biggest disease caused by it is that it becomes very difficult for women to conceive and it also becomes a big reason for infertility. This disease is found at different levels in adolescents, reproductive women and menopausal women. This serious problem which is directly related to the mother power of this country, but at present everyone’s attention is less or almost negligible. But if we see its statistics, they are very shocking. In May 2022, a UNICEF report came out on the increasing disease of PCOD among women of India. According to which about 9.3% of women in South India and Maharashtra suffer from PCOS. Whereas it is said that 22.5% of women have PCOD disease. This disease is increasing rapidly in most areas of India, which has now increased to more than 22%. That is, the female population of around 7 crores is affected by it in some form or the other. The special thing is that in the context of India, till now only women in the age group of 20 to 35 years were victims of this disease, but now it is a matter of great concern that this disease is also taking root in girls of 15, 16 years. If you look at the data of WHO, you will know that globally 116 million women are in the grip of this disease somewhere. The real cause of this disease is still a subject of research but experts believe that changed lifestyle, late nights, working in night shifts, sleeping late in the day, drinking, smoking, increasing stress in life, packaged food, fast food and not exercising etc. are the reasons due to which the routine biological clock is affected which becomes a major reason for increasing this problem. In some cases of this disease, there is a problem of pregnancy which turns into infertility in the incurable stage. Apart from this, due to pimples on the face and hormonal imbalance, there are also chances of symptoms like obesity, increased cholesterol, including type 2 sugar disease. In India, this disease has gained momentum in the last 10 years and the lack of information about it in most women is a big reason for the increase of this disease. That is, women do not have information about this disease and this is also close to the truth. This is the reason that in the language of statistics, more than 22% of women in the country are affected by it in some form or the other. This is the number that has reached the hospital or doctor. But experts believe that almost the same number is of those female patients who have not been able to report to the doctor due to lack of information. Most of their population is in rural areas, while in urban areas, there are poor women of weaker sections and slum areas who do not even know the name of this disease but they are suffering from it. If a survey of all of them is conducted, then their figure will be much more than 22%.

There is no fixed treatment for PCOD and PCOS, but changes in lifestyle, exercise and healthy and correct diet which contains more protein and fiber are helpful in the treatment of this disease. Doctors believe that if there is a reduction of 5 to 10% in weight, then the treatment becomes easier and this disease can be avoided. Apart from this, doctors also use medicines to balance hormones based on the disease, according to the condition of the patient. However, a serious disease like PCOD is a matter of concern for women of the world including India. This problem can happen to any woman, no matter what her weight is. After the treatment of PCOD, the possibility of pregnancy in women increases, but it depends on the physical and financial condition of the woman. Sometimes, if normal treatment does not give success, then surgical intervention can prove to be a good option in solving this problem. In these cases, IVF technology is used, which is not possible for every Indian woman to afford because this treatment is very expensive. PCOD and PCOS are moving towards a serious condition in women globally and India is not untouched by it. This problem is increasing rapidly in Indian women.
