Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only called the disabled people ‘Divyang’ but has also ensured that they participate in the government, and also get full benefits of the government schemes, he said.

The Chief Minister was addressing the Samajik Adhikarita Shivir organized in Prayagraj on Saturday. He said that the same time last year, the grand and divine Kumbh received a worldwide recognition.  Hundreds of years later, devotees visited the ‘Akshayavat’ and the Saraswati Kup”, he said. Today, this magnificent Kumbh of the Divyang is attracting all of us and is expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister. Such programmes have been organized across the country by the central government. The result of organizing such camps is that many world records are being made in Prayagraj, the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister said that along with artificial limbs and other assistive devices, around 900 motorized tri-bicycles are being distributed to thousands of people.”It is the result of the guidance of PM Modi that the pension of PwD  has been increased from Rs 300 to Rs 500 in the state. Participation of every disabled people is necessary for the creation of a new India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that participation of every disabled youth and child is necessary for the creation of a new India. Be it industry, service sector or sports field, our government is constantly encouraging their skills. In the five years of the previous government, devices worth less than Rs 380 crore were distributed to the PwDs while our government has distributed devices worth more than Rs 900 crore. That is, about two and a half time more, he added.

He said that during the time of earlier governments, such distribution camps were hardly organized. In the last 5 years, our government has oraganized around 9,000 camps in different areas of the country. In addition, in the last four-five years, hundreds of buildings in the country, more than 700 railway stations, airports, have been made accessible to them. The remaining ones are also being linked to the ‘Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan’, PM Modi said. The devices given to the differently-abled people are just a companion of their high spirits. Their real strength is their patience, strength, and mind. Today, around 27,000 devices have been given them, he added.

PM Modi said that the enrollment of disabled people has also been increased from 3 percent to 5 percent for admission in higher education institutions. The skill development of disabled persons has also been our top priority. He said that for the first time, our government implemented a law clarifying the rights of PwDs. One of the major benefits of this law is that the 7 different categories of Divyang were now increased to 21. They are covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, in which free treatment facilities up to Rs 5 lakh or insurance schemes are provided to them, he said. He said that in the last five and a half years, the cost of treatment of senior people has been reduced. We are constantly working to reduce this problem from the lives of senior citizens. Three years ago, our government has started ‘Rashtriya Vayoshree Yojana’ in order to provide the necessary devices to senior citizens, he further added.
