Press Conference regarding the 136th Convocation of AU held

Prayagraj. The Vice Chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava addressed a press conference today in the North Hall of the Senate house complex. The Press Conference regarding the 136th Convocation of the university being organised on 27th November.

This is the second convocation being organised under her leadership. Earlier the convocation 2021 was organised on 23rd December During the Press Conference Prof. Sangita Srivastava told the press that the Chief Guest for the 136th Convocation Ceremony would be Honorable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.

The chancellor of the university Sri Ashish Kumar Chauhan will be the guest of honour on the occasion. Other dignitaries and eminent citizens of the city have also been extended invitation for the Convocation Ceremony.
The convocation ceremony is being organised for the students who have passed in the year 2024 . Eminent Hindi litterateur and poet Shri Kumar Vishwas will be bestowed Honaris Causa during the convocation. Sri Vishwas has given a new identity to Hindi poetry and contributed to the growth and development of Hindi with his creative and critical contributions.

Earlier in 1996 former President and missile man of India Sri APJ Abdul Kalam and former Chief Election Commissioner T N Sheshan were given the Honaris Causa by the University of Allahabad. In the year 2023 eminent scientist Dr Deepak Dhar and in the year 2021 Nobel prize winner Professor Earnst were also given honorary degrees of DSc Professor Sangita Srivtastava informed the press that after decades of struggling with law and order issues now that the campus is peaceful and academic activities are being carried out in the campus it is a matter of Honor for us that the Chief Minister will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Talking to the press about the changes that have happened in the last 4 years Professor Sangita Srivastava informed them that 70% of the teaching faculty and 75% of the non teaching faculty posts have been filled, the campus has been spruced up and the infrastructure strengthened with the addition of several new buildings including the new Chemistry Department building, Lecture Theatre Complex, Auditorium, Library extension wing, the Incubation Centre and the language labs, the Hindu Hostel being acquired along with the Vigyan Parishad building. the clean and beautiful campus is not only attracting attention and appreciation, but is also an inspiration for the students to move from darkness to light as the tower of the vijayanagaram glows in the dark to give the message.


Eight students will be given gold medals during the convocation ceremony on the 27th while the rest of the 136 students will be given their medals later by the office of the Controller of Exams. On this occasion Diksha Pandey MA Sanskrit, Riya Tiwari MSc Chemistry, Riya Verma M.Com and Neha Uttam from law will be given medals, while for the UG courses Aanchal Tripathi BA Sanskrit Hindi, Mani Rashmi BSc botany and chemistry, Shubham Kumar Yadav B.Com, and Kritika Singh BA LLB will be given medals by the Chief Minister .
Among the students who have won medals 25 graduates in BA will get the medals. Of these, Aanchal Tripathi from Hindi department will get 6 medals while Harshvardhan Bajpei of Economics will get 4 medals, graduate in B.Com Shubham Kumar Yadav will get 3 medals while twelve graduates in B.Sc. will get medals, the BA LLB graduate will get two medals, LLB Honours student Anjum Ara will get 4 gold medals while B.Tech graduate students will get three gold medals.

It was also informed that the parking will be at the KPUC hostel grounds. Due to security reasons, only the VIP vehicles will be allowed to enter the campus. The rest of the teachers and administrative officials will park their vehicles in the KPUC Hostel compound. Entry for the program is strictly by pass and invitation. The university administration has issued passes to all the officials, teachers and students who would be participating in the function.
