SHUATS gets best KVK scientist award

Prayagraj: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Prayagraj of SHUATS has been working for the betterment of the society for the past 25 years. Dr. Samuel Deepak Mecarty, the head Scientist has been conferred with the award of being the Best KVK Scientist-2021 during the Indian Society of Extension Education seminar on “Transforming Indian Agriculture Through Pluralistic and Innovative Extension Approaches for Self-Reliant India” that was held at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. A number of eminent personalities including Mr. Ravinder Jaiswal, Minister of Stamp and Court, Dr. A. K. Singh, DDG-Agril.Extention, ICAR, Dr. U.S.Gautam, President ISEE & BAUT VC, Banda were present on the occasion. During the seminar more than 1500 participants from 28 states had taken part. Looking upon the outstanding contributions in farm advisory services under transfer of technology and conducting participatory research for upliftment of farming community of operational area of KVK, Dr. S.D. Mecarty been awarded with Best KVK Scientist Award 2021.

SHUATS KVK has been playing a pivotal role in transforming the lives of the rural population. Especially after the first Covid lockdown, the country saw a mass exodus of Migrant Labourers from larger cities to their homes in rural areas. With their savings depleted and lack of work, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Allahabad provided them with means of gaining alternative employment as well as improving the productivity of the resources that were already available to them. The organization worked on an overdrive in-order to reach farmers and rural folks, despite the restrictions. Through various electronic media, and by different means, such as write-ups, audio lectures, demonstration videos, the staff of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Allahabad, reached out to the people and helped them in this trying time.

Dr. S.D.Mecarty thanked the SHUATS Administration which has been working in tandem with KVK, through its Extension Directorate, to ensure that every possible help is extended to the farmers. He also commended the efforts of the staff of KVK who have worked tirelessly in the last few years.
