SHUATS student gets best oral presentation award

SHUATS student got best oral presentation award during an International Conference held in New Delhi. A conference on “Advances and Innovations in Agriculture & Allied Sciences”  was held at Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi. SHUATS Ph.D. scholar of Department of Biochemistry and Biochemical Engineering Ms. Divya Singh who is working under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Kapil Lawrence had delivered a lecture titled “Neuro-Protective Ability of Indian Medicinal Plant” and received best Oral Presentation Award.

In her presentation she elaborated on how pollution, drinking alcohol, smoking and unhealthy lifestyle is affecting our body causing the Neurons to deplete day by day causing diseases like Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, Autism, Prostate, Liver, Breast, Oral, Bladder cancers, Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Thyroid, Arthritis, Asthma, Blood pressure, Aging, Depression, etc. Main takeaway of her presentation was – ‘Your Health Your Choice’. She informed the audience that, every day we lose our dear ones, which breaks a life chain that has evolved over 3.5 billion years. According to a rough estimate, 6 deaths occur every day because of drinking causing nausea and vomiting, severe mental confusion, difficulties in breathing manifested by bluish tinge in the skin, low body temperature and loss of consciousness. She concluded her presentation by stating that we can improve our health, life and protect our body from diseases by means of Yoga and Meditation, which helps in reducing oxidative stress thus protecting our CNS (Central Nervous System).

Her presentation was appreciated by the officials and delegates presented in the conference. She was given the best oral presentation award by Dr. R.K. Yadav, Principal Scientist, Genetics and Plant Breeding, IARI, New Delhi. DDG ICAR was also presented on the occasion.

Vice-Chancellor of SHUATS Prof. Dr. R. B. Lal blessed her on this achievement and stressed on the power of belief and hard work in reaching our target of knowledge. She acknowledged the due guidance, encouragement and support extended by faculty members including Director Research Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh Marker and university for achieving her objectives.
