”Sune Chhatrapati Shivaji” staged at the Studio Theatre by Samarpit

The play “Sune Chhatrapati Shivaji” was staged at the Studio Theatre, Mutthiganj by the Samarpit (literary, cultural and social) organization, courtesy of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It was directed by Sanju Sahu and written by Vijay Pandit. In the drama, it was shown that after coronation, Shivaji, with his foresight, created a disciplined army and provided progressive administration and through his guerilla warfare strategy, he won every war. Shivaji respected women a lot.

He believed that he sees his queen mother Jija Bai in every woman and she should be treated the same way as the queen mother. Shivaji’s queen mother had a great influence in his life. He learned the nuances of war strategy and politics from her and while fighting many Mughals including Aurangzeb, revived ancient Hindu customs and etiquette in West Maharashtra, made Marathi and Sanskrit the official language and established an independent Hindu nation. The main characters were Shivaji Sanju Sahu, Peshwa Sudhir Sinha, Minister Satyam Mishra, Commander Rupesh Kumar, Kalyan’s commander Babban Yadav, Sakuji Jagdish Gaur, soldier Manish Kapoor, Rishabh Upadhyay, Muslim woman Namrata, Ayush, Anuj, Gopal Kushwaha, etc.
