Luckow: The Uttar Pradesh BJP will shortly undergo “partial organisational reorganisation” in preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The exercise will be undertaken to fill vacant party posts in the state. According to state unit president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, the BJP would bring along everybody who agrees with its philosophy, including erstwhile ally Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP).

Omprakash Rajbhar.

The SBSP, led by Omprakash Rajbhar, a significant backward politician with influence in eastern Uttar Pradesh areas, fought the 2017 assembly elections alongside the BJP but eventually joined the coalition formed by the Samajwadi Party. It contested the 2022 assembly elections with the Samajwadi Party, winning six seats, but eventually split with the Akhilesh Yadav-led party as well.”My political party recently appointed me as state president. Because several office bearers of the organisation have become government ministers, I have asked the leadership for a partial reorganisation. I have obtained permission,” Chaudhary explained.”There will be no substantial changes, merely some organisational reorganisation,” said Chaudhary, a Jat who was appointed state unit chief in August last year. Some state ministers are also office bearers, including Urban Development Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma, Transport Minister (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh, and Cooperative Credit Minister (Independent Charge) J P S Rathore. Minister Babyrani Maurya is a BJP national executive member. The BJP State Working Committee met here last month and set an objective of capturing all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. In response to the BJP’s renewed alliance with the SBSP, Chaudhary stated, “Our stance is unequivocal: we welcome everyone. We will bring anyone who agrees with our ideas and want to collaborate with us.” “If Rajbhar ji agrees with our ideas, the party would undoubtedly provide him an opportunity to work with us,” he stated. In May 2019, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath fired Rajbhar from his Cabinet for his rants against senior NDA partner BJP. However, after splitting with the SP last year, Rajbhar’s stance on the BJP appears to have softened. In the presidential election last year, his party backed the NDA candidate.
