Rs 2000 cr each for Jewar airport and Ganga expressway

Provision of Rs 2529 crore for construction of bridges

18 February, Lucknow Connectivity and development complement each other and this holds true even more for a land locked region like Uttar Pradesh. Better roads and developed airports are its option. Through them, the product of the state can easily reach the world markets in a secure and fast manner.

The government has focused enough on this in the budget. The government has made a provision of Rs 2000 crore for Asia’s largest Noida International Greenfield Airport being built at Jewar in Gautam Budh Nagar. A provision of Rs 500 crore has been made for the proposed airport in Ayodhya and Rs 92 crore 50 lakh in the budget for the regional connectivity scheme. A provision of Rs 2000 crore has also been made in the budget for the proposed country’s longest Ganga Expressway (637 km).

It is noteworthy that this expressway will connect Meerut with Prayagraj. Apart from Meerut and Prayagraj, this expressway will also connect Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh. This six-lane expressway can be extended up to eight lanes.

In the budget, the construction of Ballia Link Expressway and Gorakhpur Link Expressway to connect Ballia and Gorakhpur with Purvanchal Expressway was also announced. It has also been announced in the budget to make all the one-lane roads in the state to two-lane and to make the pavement as per the requirement. A provision of Rs 2529 crore has also been made in the budget for the construction of bridges.

Funds for construction and widening of roads

• Rs 2305 crore for construction, widening and strengthening of rural roads.
• Rs 1500 crore for the Rajya Sadak Nidhi.

  • Rs 3524 crore for the maintenance of over 2 lakh kilometres of roads of PWD.
    • Rs 830 crore for the road construction works under the proposed UP Core Road Network Project with the help of World Bank.
    • Rs 755 crore for the construction of the road under the proposed UP Main District Development Project with the help of Asian Development Bank.
    • Rs 300 crore for Purvanchal fund and Rs 210 crore for Bundelkhand under special area programme to further accelerate the development of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand.
    • Rs 39 crore for necessary works in sensitive areas to reduce accidents.
    • -Rs 14 crore for road construction and Rs 124 crore for land acquisition in seven districts that join Nepal’s international border.
    • Rs 2080 crore under the Central Road Fund Scheme, a provision of Rs 170 crore for by-pass, ring road, flyover in cities has also been made in the budget.

New universities will be set up in Saharanpur and Aligarh to promote higher education in western Uttar PradeshIn this year’s budget, the government has made a provision of Rs 2000 crore for Jewar Airport in Uttar Pradesh (West). Along with this, the Chief Minister has allotted Rs 2000 crore for the Ganga Expressway which starts from Meerut. The state government has also proposed ambitious plans for the development of the Garhmukteshwar region.

The country’s largest expressway will start from western Uttar Phradesh. Ganga Expressway will open new doors of investment and employment for UP West. The government has made a provision of Rs 2 thousand crore for 637 km long Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj.

In addition, the metro rail will start in Ghaziabad and Noida. The work on the regional rapid transit system from Delhi to Meerut is in progress. For this, the government has allotted Rs 900 crore. The government has made a provision of Rs 286 crore for the Agra Metro Rail project.

In order to promote higher education in western Uttar Pradesh, new state universities will be set up in Saharanpur and Aligarh.
