Uproar after lathicharge on farmers going to Hanuman temple, vehicles vandalizedProtesters also threw stones.

Shahjahanpur: On Tuesday evening in Tilhar, Shahjahanpur, the police lathi-charged people of Kisan Sangathan. After this, the farmers got enraged, and there was a commotion. Angry farmers vandalized the vehicles of CO and SDM. There was heavy stone pelting, due to which panic spread. The police somehow handled the situation. They caught many people and brought them to the police station. Khetihar Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan workers were sitting on a dharna for several days at the Tilhar sugar mill ground in protest against the stray cattle menace and shifting of the Kachhiyani Kheda Hanuman temple on the highway side. The maha panchayat was called on Tuesday. A large number of people participated in it. At around 4 p.m., the workers, under the leadership of National President Sudhir Kumar Chauhan, thronged the Hanuman temple. The police tried to stop the protesters, but they did not stop.

The police lashed out at this. This created a stampede. The protesters also threw stones. Many other vehicles, including CO-SDM’s car, have been damaged. Following the incident, the police force from several police stations was summoned. The tense situation persists.
