24, March, Lucknow. Additional Chief Secretary Home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi and Principal Secretary Health, Amit Mohan Prasad held a joint press conference regarding the Coronavirus update in the state in Lok Bhawan here on Tuesday. Addressing the media, Awanish Kumar Awasthi said, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is constantly trying to curb the Coronavirus epidemic and the entire administration was engaged in these preparations since February. “The entire administrative machinery and all departments throughout the state are trying to fight this epidemic through public cooperation and teamwork. We are getting positive results in the state due to teamwork,” he said. He further informed that a press conference will be held every day at 4 pm to update the Coronavirus situation, which should also be done by the District Magistrates at the district level, he said.

The Additional Chief Secretary said that the people of the state spontaneously followed the ‘Janata Curfew’ on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Uttar Pradesh is also being praised by the World Health Organization and experts for this. He said that in the last 10 days, the arrival of more than 1 lakh people from abroad in the state was a big challenge. The Additional Chief Secretary also informed that they are continuously making positive efforts to end this epidemic by communicating directly to the people. For this, we are also preparing to impose complete ban on pan masala and gutkha.

The Additional Chief Secretary said that the Chief Minister has appealed the people to avoid going to parks and take care of health by doing yoga at home. Instruction has also been given to all district magistrates and police officials that if they feel that people are coming out more from their homes or there is a lack of public cooperation in any part of the state, in that case, the District Magistrate is allowed to impose a curfew. In the context to propagate the lockdown, the Chief Minister has instructed that information should be disseminated to the people by placing loudspeakers on the vehicles of the District Magistrate, Police Officials, Health Department, Municipal Corporation and other departments in all the districts.

So far, 350 FIRs have been registered
He said that 18 districts of the state have been locked down today. Under this, the people are made to follow the rules strictly. If rules are violated, the action is also being taken under Section 188 of the ‘Epidemic Act’. So far, around 350 FIRs have been filed at the state level. Around 250 FIRs were filed yesterday and 100 FIRs have been registered today. Although the police have been instructed to teach or inspire everyone for not violating the rules, if people are not willing to understand then instructions have been given to file FIR against them in such cases, the Additional Chief Secretary added.

Extended thanks to ending the protests against CAA
Additional Chief Secretary thanked the protesting women for ending and postponing the ongoing protests in many places in the state against the CAA. He also urged women to join the battle against the global epidemic Coronavirus.

Over 2800 Isolation beds ready in the state: Principal Secretary Health
Principal Secretary Health Amit Mohan Prasad said that 35 cases of people infected with Coronavirus have been reported in the state. Today, fresh cases of Coronavirus have been reported in Shamli and Noida. So far, in 35 cases, 11 people have recovered and have been discharged after treatment. Among them, 7 patients are from Agra, one from Ghaziabad, one from Noida, and one from Lucknow. At the same time, samples of 68 people have been sent for testing. So far, more than 2800 isolation beds are ready in the state which we will further increase to 11,000. He said that at present, samples of Coronavirus are being tested at 6 places in the state including 3 hospitals in Lucknow, Aligarh, Varanasi and Meerut. Soon, the testing facility will start in Gorakhpur’s NIV Center and Saifai.
