Mao Zedong

The dragon is at its best ever: seeking to re- assert its might through unleashing treachery, lies and deceit. But then, is this the recent Chinese phenomenon which has come to define the national characteristics? No, obviously not. While reading about Mao Zedong, especially his mindset, when he had famously said, ‘ When the situation is unfavourable, bend like a worm; however when the situation is favourable, stand like a cactus’. Mao Zedong, whose infamous persecution was unleashed upon his own people– Mao too, had unleashed the genocide, brutally eliminating all his perceived enemies- much like how Trotsky, the leader of Manshevik group, was assassinated in Austria, by Stalin.

Stalin

Small wonder then, the famous Mao’s comment, ‘ The power flows from the barrel of the gun’, is the illustration of how, once the nationalist government of Chiang ki Sheikh was deposed, and Communist under Mao took over, the very raison d’etre and summum bonum of China underwent an immediate metamorphosis.

Significantly, the Kumintang government of China, despite being exploitative to its own people, was not adversely disposed towards neighbours. However, the defeat of Kumintang government of Chiang ki Sheikh and installation of rogue Communists engendered the rise of a nation which, for laying down its policy of expansionism, gave a decent burial to the human values, adopted the foxy characteristics to browbeat neighbours first, and the world next, into an abysmal submission.

Chiang ki Sheikh

Significantly, Chiang ki Sheikh had fled to erstwhile Formosa, today’s Taiwan, which the current rogue regime of Jinping claims to be its integral part. Thus based on its unsustainable claim, it had threatened to capture it by force but, the towering prowess of NATO, was the deterrent; Chinese forces despite its bravados, finally had to retreat, for the towering presence of USA, notwithstanding the deluge of thrashonical, it had to eat the humble pie; it had made a self- mockery of itself; ended up with an egg at its face. No wonder, its immediate target was India, where its strategic calculation suggested, that NATO, especially USA, opposing Chinese belligerance from outside, unlike Taiwan, where the former’s strategic interest was involved, would not join the war theatre. Thus Twang misadventure was the trigger behind Chinese incursion through its treacherous mechanism of salami slicing.

Jawaharlal Nehru

Unfortunately for rogue Chinese, it failed to envisage the pitfalls ahead: India of 1962 under the government of Jawaharlal Nehru was not the same under the government of Narendra Modi in 2022. Yet India has its own nemesis: a rogue group of Communists whose sense of schaden freude in gloating over India’s decimation in the hands of Chinese continues since 1962. Also, India has the biggest enemy within: Nehru- Gandhi family, with a brand joker, Rahul Gandhi whose circus jamboorie is the trigger behind the sinking of the fortune of Congress Party.

Narendra Modi

Now, with the benefits of hindsight, Mao Zedong had laid out the trajectory for the nation to traverse: he had already envisaged the emergence of China as the world power and consequently counseled the caution in the beginning till it gathers strength to browbeat the world into submission. Mao’s strategic calculation unfolded with Chinese conquest of Tibet, where India under Nehru fiddled while its strategic interest was perpetually put to jeopardy. Significantly, the Chinese, for all these decades had lain low, before donning the role of being the jingoist power. Significantly, China shrewdly calculates that, in its ulterior motive to emerge as the supreme power in Asia, it has to bully India into an abysmal submission. Hence, its strategic policy of encircling India through its notorious policy of OBOR( One Belt One Road) and China Pakistan Economic Corridor( CPEC). Also, its investment in Hambantota port in Sri Lanka, was a strategic move to encircle India from all sides. But then, the duplicitous tendency of China, sooner than later, became obvious, when Sri Lanka stood on the verge of insolvency when India had to step in to stave off the catastrophic crises befalling the nation.

Rahul Gandhi

The deceitful motto of Chinese intention became obvious to the world when China, despite the world facing the humongous crises engendered by Covid 19, which some of the sources say, has been its own creation, invaded Ladakh. What the world witnessed was the Galvan Valley face- off, resulting in the death of twenty soldiers from Indian side and scores of death, not reported by the Chinese media.

Global Times, the English propaganda tool, continues to orchestrate lies; it is the tool for global Chinese propaganda which psychologically bullies the neighbours to bow down to China and begin crawling when simply asked to bend down. The latest incursion into Twang in Arunachal Pradesh, unequivocally found the Chinese on the wrong side: The Indian soldiers, despite being lesser in numbers, repulsed their counterpart who were almost three hundred in numbers. This ignominious retreat of Chinese forces from Twang, whose video was circulated across the world–even though the video purportedly belongs to some other time–has made China a laughing stock across the world. No wonder, the Germany ambassador had rightly said that only India can stand against the Chinese aggression, and the world had already witnessed the same in Twang. However, the Chinese, instigated by its own intrinsic characteristics of being treacherous, can seldom be expected to exhibit the needed restraint as its strategic tool of its foreign policy.

Significantly, Chinese foreign policy today appears to be in tatters; its bullying tendency has already contributed towards its alienation from several of its Asian neighbours: Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and other countries in its neighbourhood. Worse still, it has befriended such rogue nations like North Korea, Turkey, Iran, has apparently made it look like the duplication of an erstwhile Axis power comprising of Hitler’s era of Germany, Musolini’s Italy and the belligerent Japanese of the 2nd World War. Unequivocally, this shady image of China can seldom prove to be a precursor for its advent as the superpower; in fact, it heralds the negative image of China which is an anathema for the world. America, despite its manoeuvrings and predatory mindset, continues to enjoy the goodwill, despite having been the root cause for the troubles going on across the world. On the other hand, China, even before it could have proved itself as the reliable counter to USA, has messed up with the world; its villaneous image has got imprinted today in the minds of the world, as the notorious country which dangles carrots before gobbling up the territories of others. Small wonder then, it is credibility crisis which China has come to symbolise today. Its foreign policy based on ‘ Wolf Warrior’ diplomacy, whereas its geo- political strategy based on salami slicing, vindicates the Chinese motive to lord over the world through deceits and treachery. It is here Mao Zedong’s vision of expansionism, devoutly followed by Xi Jinping, has substantially contributed to the erosion of the image of China as the deserving world power. On the contrary, India, since it freed Bangladesh, without annexing it as a part of its own territory, has given the sufficient hints to the world that it has no expansionism motto; it believes in ‘ Vasudaiv Kutumbakam’ whereunder entire globe is one family.

Xi Jinping

Unequivocally, India triumphs over China when it comes to its own world view. Thus Satyamev Jaitey, the pillar of foundation of Indian republic, is the sheer joy to the world, whereas the institutionalised characteristic of treachery of Chinese raison d’etre and summum bonum is the biggest curse for the world peace and order.
