WHO warns! All countries should be cautious about coronavirus infection
Geneva, Feb 10 (HS): The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned the countries other than China about the spread of Coronavirus infection and appealed them to be prepared to deal with the deadly virus in order to prevent its spreading further.
WHO Director General Gebreyssus tweeted, “In the spirit of human solidarity, I salute the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and public health workers on the front lines who, at personal risk, are doing their utmost to stem the coronavirus outbreak. They are the true heroes of this outbreak.”
Gebreyssus further tweeted, “There’ve been some concerning instances of onward coronavirus spread from people with no travel history too. The detection of a small number of cases may indicate more widespread transmission in other countries; in short, we may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg.”
Gebreyssus tweeted, “In an evolving public health emergency, all countries must step up efforts to prepare for coronavirus possible arrival and do their utmost to contain it should arrive. This means lab capacity for rapid diagnosis, contact tracing and other tools in the public health arsenal.”
He said, in this public health emergency, all countries should intensify their efforts to be prepared in view of the possibility of the virus arriving and should make every effort to control it as soon as possible. Gebrecius said that the spread of the coronavirus outside China has slowed, but it can increase at any time. Donors have come forward under the spirit of financial solidarity, but we have not yet reached our target of $ 67.5 million. The death toll from the deadly coronavirus in China has risen to 908 and more than 40,000 cases of its infection have been confirmed.
