Yogi government makes provision to provide water to every farm

Sufficient funds allotted for completing several irrigation projects pending for decades

Provision of Rs 3000 crore has been made in the budget for providing pure drinking water to the rural population

February 18, Lucknow. The main purpose of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan ‘Per Drop More Crop’ is to make water available to every farm. This time the government’s stress to maximize the use of available water was seen in the budget. The intention of the Yogi government is to complete in the current financial year the Saryu Canal, Madhya Ganga Canal (Second Phase) and Arjun Sahayak projects pending for decades. Keeping this in view, the government has allotted sufficient funds for these schemes in the budget.

Besides, supplying an adequate amount of water for irrigation, the priority of the government is to provide pure drinking water to every household, especially the rural population. For this, a provision of Rs 3000 crore has been made in the budget.

Rs. 1736 crore have been allotted for Saryu Canal

This time, the state government has allotted a huge amount of money for Jal Shakti, Namami Gange and Gramin Jalapoorti Vibhag. In the budget, Rs. 1 thousand 554 crore has been allotted for the Saryu Canal project pending for years, Rs. 1 thousand 736 crore for Madhya Ganga Canal (Second Phase) while Rs. 252 crore 65 lakh for Arjun Sahayak project. Likewise, Rs 393 crore, Rs 296 crore, and Rs 200 crore are proposed for Rajghat Canal Project, Water Sector Restructuring Project and Kanhar Irrigation Project respectively. Besides, a provision of Rs 966 crore has been made for flood control and drainage projects and Rs 300 crore for the construction of damaged paved structures of canals.

Emphasis on water harvesting

A provision of Rs 216 crore is proposed to implement the free boring scheme, Medium deep tube well scheme and deep boring scheme in the name of Mukhyamantri Laghu Sinchai Yojana. A provision of Rs 48 crore has been made for rainwater harvesting through re-developing ponds of 01 hectare to 05 hectares. Under the “Har Khet Ko Pani”, a component of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, a provision of Rs 50 crore has been made for boring in 69 development blocks of 18 districts of the state, which receive more than 750 mm of rainfall.
