58 thousand community toilets to be ready in the state by March

Lucknow, November 24: On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 58 thousand women of the self-help group of the state will be provided employment to construct public toilets under gram panchayats. For this, they will be entrusted with the management of toilets being constructed in all gram panchayats of the state. In return, an amount of Rs. six thousand rupees per month will be paid to them by the government. In this six thousand women have already been given work as six thousand toilets have already been made.

As part of Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan, the state government is constructing 58,000 community toilets in the gram panchayats. Three lakh rupees are being given for the construction of a community toilet under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural 2).
In many districts, large community toilets of better standard cost are also being constructed. Women working in these toilets will be given PPE kits, gloves and chemicals etc. twice a year.

Additional Chief Secretary Panchayati Raj Manoj Kumar Singh said that our effort is to complete the construction of toilets at every gram panchayat level in the entire state by maximum March 2021.
As construction is completed, employment will be provided to women of self-help groups. We are also conducting a third-party verification of toilets that have been completed. Quality of construction etc. will be examined through this.
“Rupees nine thousand every month for maintenance”The government will give Rs nine thousand per month for the maintenance of every toilet in the gram panchayats. The cleanliness worker or caretaker will do the cleaning at least twice a day and will be given six thousand rupees per month.
Rs 500 per month will also be given for the repair of electricity, plumbing, taps and for cleaning equipment like a broom, brushes, wipers, sponges, cloths, mop, bucket, mug, etc.
Rs One thousand rupees per month will be given for disinfectant material soap, washing powder, air freshener, Harpic, mask, gloves and aprons. In the form of utility charges, one thousand per month will be given for water, electricity, solid waste management and three hundred rupees per month for other expenses.
