Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Principal Secretary Health held a press conference regarding Corona virus at Lok Bhawan

March 31, Lucknow. Additional Chief Secretary, Home Awanish Kumar Awasthi and Principal Secretary Health Amit Mohan Prasad held a press conference at Lok Bhawan in reference with Corona virus here on Tuesday. Additional Chief Secretary, Home said, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that any laxity will not be tolerated in lockdown compliance. He said, the Chief Minister has taken the incidents of Delhi and Bareilly seriously, and ordered strict action against the responsible people.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home said, in regards with Delhi incident, the Chief Minister has instructed to immediately identify and examine all those who have entered UP after the event. Besides, he has also said that action be taken against those who did not reveal their illness to the health authorities. Around 95 percent of the people who returned from the event have been identified, only 10 to 12 people are yet to be identified for which instructions have been issued to all the district magistrates and CMOs.

Additional Chief Secretary Home said to review the Delhi incident, the Chief Minister will hold videoconferencing with senior officers of Agra, Saharanpur and Lucknow. He also said that a video from Bareilly has emerged where chemical was sprayed on migrant workers. Strongly condemning the action, the Chief Minister has directed to take strong action against the officials concerned. The Chief Minister has categorically said that his government respects every citizen.

The Additional Chief Secretary, Home said that the Chief Minister has issued a directive to pay salaries to employees of ‘102 and 108 dial’. He informed that nodal officers of UP held talks with the officials of Gujarat, Kerala, Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to provide all possible help to the people of UP living there.

The Additional Chief Secretary, Home said that during lockdown, there were reports of profiteering from some districts. Chief Minister has instructed all district magistrates to take strict action against such profiteers. He said that DM and SSP of Varanasi took stock of the situation as a common citizen and took action against those who were overcharging. The Chief Minister has directed the officials to keep an eye on the public distribution system. Rate lists of items like fruits, vegetables, milk and ration etc. should be put in public places like malls, shops, grocery and general stores.

The Additional Chief Secretary, Home informed that the Chief Minister has appealed to the general public for financial assistance in Chief Minister Relief Fund. He asked the district magistrates to propagate about the relief fund widely among the common people. The Chief Minister has asked to immediately start community kitchens in every district. Apart from this, the Chief Minister appealed to provide information about the Corona patients as well as suspected patients to the control room, police control room, Dial 102 and 108, he said.

101 cases reported positive in the state, 14 have completely recovered: Principal Secretary Health

Principal Secretary Health Amit Mohan Prasad said that 8 labs are operating in the state. Our effort is to increase the number of labs so that sample testing work could be done at a fast pace. Along with Prayagraj and Jhansi, lab preparations are at final stage at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Lucknow.

Giving updates about Corona cases, he said that 101 cases have been reported in 15 districts, of which Gautambudh Nagar and Meerut reported the highest number of Corona positive patients where over 50 people are infected. Total of 14 people have fully recovered so far, he said. He said that after 17 March, 100 cases were reported across the country whereas 1000 cases have been reported in just 12 days. There is a need for special vigilance to avoid such situation in our state. Also it is necessary to follow hand washing and social distancing practice seriously.

The Principal Secretary Health said that the Health Department is also getting full support from the Chief Minister Helpline 1076. He said the Chief Minister has directed to make CMO and joint director as nodal officers in every district. These officers have been given the responsibility to supervise the supply chain of masks, medicines and other essential items. He informed that these officers have also been posted in Ghaziabad, Noida and Meerut. Apart from this, Greater Noida CEO Narendra Bhushan has been made the nodal officer.

The Principal Secretary Health said that the Chief Minister has given responsibility to the DMs and CMOs for surveillance of Corona patients and suspects. Besides, he has also given clear instructions that the work of making the public aware of social distancing should be done sincerely.
