Teak, found in Betul district of Bhopal, MP, is called the king of timber, which belongs to the Verbenaceae family. Its scientific name is Tectona grandis. Its tree is very tall and produces good quality wood. This is the reason why it has a good demand in the domestic and foreign markets. When the East India Company was ruling in our country, at that time the demand for teak wood of Betul district was from far away places. When the Queen of Britain came to know about the smell and shine of the teak of the district, she herself also became crazy about the shine and smell of the teak of Betul. Experts say that teak traveled from Betul to Britain during the British period and at present, the shine of Betul’s teak can be seen in the Buckingham Palace in London. After the teak of Betul, the demand for tea made from Mahua in the district has also reached this palace. Meanwhile, Betul’s world-famous teak, due to its brightness and usefulness, has become a means of earning for inter-state smugglers like red sandalwood of South India. Now the day is not far when Betul’s teak reaching Bhilwara will be sold in the black market across the seven seas. The dense forest of Satpura also seems to have caught the eye of some enemy on the teak.

This was the first time in the history of forest department of Betul district when an IT expert woman trainee IFS forest officer arrested a teak truck carrying 22 teak trees illegally cut in her area and the accused involved in the case. In fact, a month ago, Harda’s gang absconded overnight after cutting 22 teak trees for Khandwa’s forest mafi or bhura in Mahupani beat of Tapti range of South Forest Division. After this incident, a 12-member team was formed under the guidance of DFO in Betul and presently CCF Prafulla, led by IT Expert Trainee IFS / Ranger in-charge of Tapti Range Ms. Pooja Nagle. Ms. Pooja Nagle proved to be Lady Singham in the department. First of all, the team caught the wood stealing gang, on whose tip Bhura was caught from Khandwa. Bhura took the wood cut from Mahupani to Mav-run Aramshin in Haripura village of Bhilwara, Rajasthan, from where the team seized a teak truck and sent it to Betul late at night. Has returned. According to the information received from the sources, when the Forest Department team surrounded the resting place of Haripura in Bhilwara. So here, the teak logs were being turned into powder at a rapid pace. Actually, the news of the arrival of the team had reached the comfortable operator, that is why he wanted to rip this wood as soon as possible and put it in the place. When the team involved in illegal felling started catching the members of Harda’s wood theft gang, the leader of the gang came to know about it, after which he went absconding. The forest department team is actively searching for it.

The wood theft gang of Harda, which was caught by the forest staff team, has always been the target of the forest of West Forest Division, but this is the first time when the back of this team has been broken with the help of IT. Fearing being caught four years ago, a truck loaded with teak was burnt in the forest of Mohda range. Trainee IFS Pooja Nagle, SDO Gaurav Mishra, Ranger Nitin Pawar, Deputy Ranger Abhishek Upadhyay, Deputy Ranger Devendra Parihar, Forest Guard Pankaj Rathore, Bhanu Varkade, Sachin Rajput Vijay Piparde and Driver Arun Adlak were included.
