Lockdown Reality: Effectiveness and Discrimination between Poor and Rich
Anuj Maurya New Delhi: One question arises that has the lockdown really helped? Yes, the lockdown has really kept the situation under control in India. If we look at the situation of other developed nations, India is in a far better position. There is no doubt to say that the Indian government took preventive measures at the nick of time time. WHO appreciated India’s move. The movement got some hurdles initially when the Tablighi Jamat left for different parts of the country without proper information to the authorities. The growth of coronavirus patients went at an alarming rate. The number of known cases doubled up in only 3 days and India entered into the second phase of the virus spread. At the end of the lockdown 1.0 situation got a little better and at the starting of the lockdown 2.0 speed of the spread reduced to half. All Indian states are faring differently to curb the pandemic. Indian Government has received 6.5 lakh testing kits which will help to keep a check on the rising of corona cases. Some foreign media reports say that India is not tracking corona cases at a good pace and testing is also very slow for this expert says that it could be dangerous for the upcoming period and can ruin all efforts of India. A state like U.P, Delhi and Maharashtra has improved testing. U.P has boosted it’s testing from 200 to 2600. Discrimination between Poor and Rich: Some incident in this lockdown has again shown the difference between poor and rich. When most people in India are strictly following lockdown, there is a higher section of society that is teasing the lockdown. Wedding of the son of HD Kumarswami is proof of discrimination where a person who represents people in parliament torn the system of lockdown and social distancing whereas people who move by bicycle get beaten up by cops. Students of Kota have been provided 252 buses by the U.P government to get back to their house whereas migrant workers in Maharashtra and Gujrat have to protest to deliver their voice to government. Thousands of workers are not getting attention like the students of Kota. Irrespective of all this, Maharashtra government gave a special pass to Kapi and Dheeraj Wadhwan who are accused of scam in Yes Bank. They were moving freely across the state. One more thing that is distressing is the beating of Corona Warriors. Such incidents have happened in Indore, Muradabad and Aurangabad. Some religious organization has taken this lockdown as a conspiracy against their religion. They are not able to understand that virus is dangerous to everyone irrespective of religion and caste |
