People excited to vote via letters that arrive at their homes as part of Postal Dept’s campaign
Massive campaign will be run through a total of 1729 post offices.
Ballia, 4 May (HS): Till now you must have heard that the postman brought the mail and the postman brought the bank. On similar lines, now the postman will also motivate people to vote to strengthen democracy in the country. Under the ongoing voter awareness campaign under the ‘Sweep Program’ of the Election Commission of India, efforts are being made to make voters aware about voting in the Lok Sabha elections. Now the postal department has also taken up the lead. On the instructions of Postmaster General of Varanasi Zone Krishna Kumar Yadav, this massive campaign will be run through a total of 1729 post offices under the zone including 355 post offices of Ballia. Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav appealed to the people to ensure their participation in the great festival of democracy. On one hand, people are being made aware by putting the stamp of “Election Day, Pride of the Country” and voting on the mail distributed through post offices. Postmen will also appeal to people to use their franchise during mail delivery. Along with this, postal workers will also motivate the people coming to the post offices for various works like speed post and registry booking, opening of IPPB and savings account, Aadhaar enrollment and updation etc. to cast their vote. Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav said that lakhs of people aim to motivate voters to vote through letters reaching their homes. A target has been set to spread the awareness message especially to the elderly, youth, women and first voters as well as disabled voters in all circumstances. Ballia Division Superintendent of Post Office Hemant Kumar said that a large number of common people visit the post office daily. Let’s reach out to them. In this context, post office is also a suitable place for voter awareness.
