Health facilities to be strengthened in rural areas
Provision has been made to set up a diabetic retinopathy treatment centre in the budget

February 18, Lucknow. In the budget 2020-21 proper attention has been given to the health sector. The government has made provisions to establish a diabetic retinopathy treatment centre at King George’s Medical University (Lucknow), Medical College (Prayagraj) and Medical College (Meerut). Along with this, the Centre for Advanced Diabetes and Endocrine Sciences will also be set up at SGPGI.
The government has made provisions to provide full medical facilities to the people living in rural areas. Under this, telemedicine has been started in the state, under which patients from remote villages can also get medical consultation from the control room through mobile phones. Mukhyamantri Arogya Mela is being organized every Sunday at primary health centers across the state.

The government has made a provision of Rs 30 crore for the establishment of 100-bed joint hospitals in newly formed districts. A total of Rs 65 crore has been given for CHC buildings and equipment. The CHCs located in rural areas will be upgraded to 100-bed hospitals, for this provision of Rs 50 crore has been allotted. The government has also made provision of Rs 70 crore for improvement-expansion and renovation in district men and women hospitals in the budget 2020-2021. Besides, a provision of Rs 50 lakh has been made for the expansion of OPD and ward in the premises of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital, Lucknow and Rs 12 crore 50 lakh for the construction of the Trauma Center building.
The government has made a provision of Rs 291 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana. A total of Rs. 919 crore has been allocated for King George’s Medical University, Rs 820 crore for SGPGI, Rs 309 crore for Saifai Rural Institute of Medical Sciences, Rs 477 crore for Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Rs 187 crore for Cancer Institute (Lucknow), Rs. 40 crore for free medical services for the treatment of incurable diseases, Rs. 96 crore for Government Medical College (Azamgarh) while provision of Rs 73 crore and 86 lakh has been made to establish medical colleges by upgrading district hospitals.
