Sambhal, July 3: A man in Uttar Pradesh called off his wedding because of “objectionable behaviour” by the bride-to-be and her mother during the ceremony, according to his relatives. According to the groom’s family, the bride was spotted kissing visitors while welcoming them, while her mother smoked cigarettes and blew smoke into the faces of those in attendance. The tragedy occurred in the Uttar Pradesh city of Sambhal.

When the man’s family arrived at the wedding location, they were all greeted warmly. Soon after, however, the bride’s mother was spotted inebriated dancing and blowing rings of cigarette smoke into the faces of the guests. The groom was bothered by this and refused to participate in the wedding festivities. “The filthy behaviour displayed by the bride and her mother is the reason for my son’s refusal to marry,” the groom’s father claimed.25
