13th Convocation of Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Science, Prayagraj held
Prayagraj. The 13th Convocation of Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Science, Prayagraj was held on Thursday. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Metropolitan of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Geevarghese Mar Coorilos. SHUATS Chancellor Dr. J.A. Oliver declared the 13th convocation open, after which the ceremony began.

Vice-Chancellor Most Rev. Prof. Rajendra B. Lal while sharing his experiences about AAI developing into Deemed University and then a full-fledged university, said that by keeping the vision clear and working accordingly, there is definite success. He also encouraged students to always work with honesty and dedication and not expect approval from everyone. Sharing the Bible verse, he said that those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will have the right of kingdom of God. He said in difficult times even best friends and relatives leave you but God never leaves His believers. So we all should believe on Lord Jesus Christ and follow the path of truth shared by the God. The Vice-Chancellor administered the oath to degree holders for truth, honesty, service to the nation, feed the hungry, serve the land and to be loyal to God, Alma Mater and to nation.

Describing SHUATS as a great institution, the Chief Guest Geevarghese Mar Coorilos said that the degree holders here are enhancing the pride of the institute by serving the society not only all over India but also abroad. He said that with success it is also very important to have a good character building. He also gave the message of service to the Lord, service to the society and service to the country. He said that if we insist on moving ourselves forward, being focused, then success will surely come. During the convocation, the new Linseed variety developed by SHUATS Alsi-5 was dedicated to Late Dr. Suresh Babu by the chief guest. A new book written by the faculty members was released on the occasion.

SHUATS Chancellor Dr. J.A. Oliver congratulated all the degree and medal recipients and wished them a bright future. He asked the students to contribute towards bringing happiness and prosperity in the whole world.

Earlier Registrar Prof. Dr. Robin L. Prasad welcomed all the guests. Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Jonathan A. Lal, while sharing the introduction of the dignitaries including the chief guest, addressed the conferment of Honoris Causa Degrees to them, in which Bishop Gregorios Mar Stephens Episcopa, former Ambassador of Italy Mr. Kalarickal Pranchu Fabian, Prof. George Manachery have been conferred Honoris Causa Degrees by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra B. Lal.
Director Campus Ministry Dr. Sudha Lal and Dr. Indira Vasantha presented medals to the awardees of different categories in which Late Rev. Gulzari Lal Memorial Best UG Award was given to Ayushi Srivastava, Narnit Agarwal, Aakriti Sakshi. Late Manish Jacob Memorial Award for best differently abled student was given to Shivanshu Gupta, KC Narasimha, Vivek Singh. Laxmi Rao Memorial Award for Best Girl Student in Forensic Science was given to Miss Sumaya, Shivangi Joshi, Pallava Kumari and Sejal Kesarwani.
The convocation which was held after the Covid-19 epidemic, 6485 degrees of graduation, 6890 of masters, 388 of PhD and 355 of diploma were distributed to the passout students of the year 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. For best performing outstanding students 411 gold and silver medals were distributed to meritorious students. In addition, degrees were also distributed to 121 students belong USA, Nepal, Ghana, Libya, Iraq, Bhutan etc. The program ended with the national anthem.
