“Yaad-E-Bismillah” in memory of Ustad Bismillah Khan
New Delhi. The 21st of August is the day when every year Dr. Soma Ghosh remembers -and pays her respects to the Shehnai legend, Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan, through the tribute concert “Yaad-E-Bismillah“. This year is the 18th year since his departure and Dr. Soma Ghosh celebrated it in Delhi. India Heritage Culture and Arts, Trust, Sanskar Bharati, Art & Culture Trust Of India., Madhu Murchchana, came together to hold a memorable evening of film & music, in memory of Ustad Bismillah Khan.

In the afternoon, a ‘Kajari’ workshop was held where with over 100 students were taught them a beautiful kajari song. Then the children had Hi-tea and enjoyed it very much!
With the advent of the evening, the music loving audience of Delhi started arriving along with the elite of Delhi. Maharaja Dungarpur, Hon. Manavendra Singh, Union Minster Hon. Shri Ramdas Athawale, Hon. Shri Kripashankar Singh, Chairman Prasar Bharati Shri Navneet Sehgal, Smt. Rekha Sharma, former Chairman NWO, Padma Shri Kamal Singh Chauhan, Colonel Askash Patil, DGP RPF, Mr. S. K. Bhagat, Col Akash patil and Padma Shri Smt. Rita Ganguly were also present alongside many Press – Media present representatives.
The event started off with the biopic on Ustad ji by eminent filmmaker, Shri Subhankar Ghosh which received a strong response of handclaps from the audience. The event was covered live on Bharat Express and on Doordarshan.
This was followed by Dr. Soma Ghosh’s recital with the raga ‘Bihag’ that was the jugalbandi raga of Soma ji & Ust. Bismillah Khan. She thanked everyone in the lovely gathering and sang many songs that were dear to Ust. Bismillah Khan. Although there were many requests to continue singing, Soma ji asked the two young rising artists, Shri (Dr) Vipul Rai (Santoor) and Shri Ravindra Rajput (Flute) who gave a scintillating jugalbandi performance that left the audience in rupture!!
Mr. Shool Pani Singh of the Art & Culture Trust Of India. & India Heritage culture & art Trust presented Dr. Ghosh with Lifetime Achievement Award. The evening was ably conducted by Kaspi Syamil.
A loud shout out for strong support to Shri Upendra Rai of Bharat Express and Mr. Yogesh Agrawal of Genomic Valley Biotech limited was expressed.
